Congratulations!
So, you’re having a baby.
Becoming a parent is an exciting time in your life. Don’t let the stresses of our unique and hectic work environment take away from that.
In order to help you navigate this special life event we have spent hours composing documents to help answer all of your questions when it comes to being a flight attendant while pregnant, adopting, breastfeeding and well in to parenthood.
The best resource we have for you is our guidebook: From Here to Maternity. We suggest you download it and take a look through it as most questions can be answered by reading this extensive guide. Keep in mind that some things may change, and always look at the date on the front page to ensure you have the most current version.
Some other important documentation you might need are:
Maternity Leave WIP Top Up
Request for Travel Benefits (to add your child to your profile)
We understand that flying and parenting are two very difficult roles to balance. Should you ever be in a situation where an unforeseen emergency arises leaving you without childcare or with a sick child, note that you can request an unpaid leave of absence as per our Personal Family Care Leave Policy. Review it by clicking here. Note: to request this leave you must contact crew scheduling (do NOT call the book off line, speak directly to a scheduler). The scheduler will put a “NO SHOW” or “unavailable for duty - fault” on your schedule. Do not worry. Contact your manager (email is preferred) and let them know exactly what’s going on. The code on your block will change to “unavailable for duty no fault”.
If you have any questions regarding maternity/parental leaves, breastfeeding leaves, benefits, etc please email the Local Office.
